Fostering Synergies between Transportation and Electricity Networks for a Net-Zero Energy System

Beyond significant progress in the energy sector decarbonization, the transportation sector has seen considerable electrification in recent years. Importantly, the swift proliferation of electric vehicles has dramatically magnified the interplay between transportation and electricity networks. On the one hand, the surge in electric vehicles has escalated the electricity demand on the electricity network. Conversely, this new demand could be strategically managed with the potential of enhancing the charging load distribution through spatiotemporal load shifting, and possibly supporting the grid operation through Vehicle-to-Grid technologies. As we look towards a net-zero energy future, understanding and exploiting the synergy between transportation and electricity networks becomes crucial. This includes examining the evolution, development, planning, and operation of integrated networks, underpinned by increasing volume of data.
This special issue aims to develop comprehensive approaches for transportation and electricity networks. The guest editorial team cordially invites submissions of original research papers focusing on, but not limited to, the following facets:

We sincerely welcome manuscripts containing novel, high quality, and unpublished research results. The invited submissions will be processed and reviewed in the same way as open submissions. Both review articles and original research articles are welcome. All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
This is a Joint special issue of journal Applied Energy and Advances in Applied Energy. You could choose either journal to submit your paper. Manuscripts should be submitted via journal online submission system at: Editorial Manager for Applied Energy and Editorial Manager for Advances in Applied Energy by selecting the Article Type of " VSI: Transport-power networks". Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
