Human civilization is at a crossroad. To contrast the depletion of resources, the progressive climate change, the spread of pandemics and social inequalities, AGENDA 2030 presents a blueprint made up by 17 goals and 169 targets to stimulate, all over the world, action in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.
In this framework, innovative energy technologies and processes, together with the establishment of new policies aimed at granting equality in the access to resources while reducing the impacts of human activities, are of fundamental importance for the realization of the so-longed, almost unreachable, sustainable development.
In ten years of activity, SETA contributed to the spread of scientific knowledge about greener and more efficient energy technologies and processes. We think it is the right time to make the point about the role of policy and technological development in the energy sector in the establishment of a real sustainable development.
This celebratory Special Issue (SI) will collect position, reviews and original research papers aimed at presenting/discussing about how energy technologies as well as the establishment of new policies had/are/will contribute to the achievement of the AGENDA 2030 goals.
