Overview
In recent years, Blockchain technology has attracted interest from academia and industry, and employed applications in finance, health, supply-chain management, and many others. Basically, blockchain provides a decentralized ledger to achieve global consensus. Smart contracts, a byproduct of blockchain allow the ability for parties for execute programs to arrive at a consensus based on the outcome of execution results, submitted by participants. Researchers in distributed systems, bigdata, software, cryptography, and security have been engaged in addressing challenges. Blockchains and smart contracts have been investigated for Internet of things, supply-chain management, health applications and many others.
This special issue of the Pervasive and Mobile Computing journal will be focused on applications of blockchain and smart contracts in pervasive and mobile computing, and related topics. For the purpose of this special issue, in addition to pervasive and mobile computing, such overlapping areas as Internet of things, cyberphysical systems, edge computing, sensor systems, social networks, smart living spaces including driverless and autonomous vehicles, will be considered. Research articles on the following topics, in the context of pervasive systems and their applications will be considered
-- Blockchain and smart contracts
-- Novel mechanisms
-- Fraud and error detection
-- Cost, performance and scalability
-- Quality and fairness
--Security and privacy enhancements
--Management in mobile and disruptive environments
--Services and service contracts
--Interoperable blockchains
--Distributed consensus algorithms
--Cryptocurrencies
