Overview
Fluidization is one of the most encountered processes in chemical engineering, and will continue to play indispensable role in chemical industries in the future. Though fluidization has been studied for a long time, due to its highly complex nature, significant efforts are still devoted to increase its productions and reduce its consumptions. Actually, process intensification has been one of long-term key orientations in knowledge and technology developments for fluidization. In recent years, due to industrial upgrading, process intensification has received particular attention from both economic and environmental aspects. Increased developments of new principles for process intensification of fluidization have emerged and advances of this field have entered into a new era. To this end, collecting papers from worldwide active researchers showing the cutting-edge directions of process intensification of fluidization is highly beneficial to future developments in this direction. Though in the last decade, especially the recent five years, a sheer volume of scientific papers have been published, to the best of our knowledge, there has not been a special issue so far specifically devoted to highlight the current status and future directions of process intensification of fluidization.
The aim of this special issue is to present readers a high-level platform for active researchers to report their most up-to-date progress in process intensification of fluidization. Developments and applications of principles, such as reactor structuring, synergistic combination (in the reactor) with an adsorption/membrane separation process, specific tuning of the dynamics, and the use of electrical or magnetic forces, for process intensification of fluidization are the main scopes of this special issue. Both original research articles and comprehensive review and feature papers are anticipated in this special issue, from which we hope to summarize the true wavefront in advances of process intensification of fluidization. Papers in all aspects related to process intensification of fluidization, including theoretical, experimental, and numerical studies, from laboratory- to industry-scale fluidized beds are welcome. Interested authors please submit your manuscripts through the journal’s electronic paper submission system and choose special issue “VSI: Adv-PI-fluidization”. All submitted manuscripts will undergo strict peer review for quality purpose. Potential authors can contact any of the Guest Editors to discuss the suitability of their manuscripts to this special issue.
