Overview
Modern cyber-physical systems (CPS) are smart compound systems engineered through seamless integration of embedded information processing sub-systems and physical sub-systems. The smart collaborating CPS, that started to form the Cyber-Physical Systems of Systems (CPSoS) and Internet of Things (IoT), have important applications in virtually all economic and social segments, and their huge economic and societal impact rapidly increases. The CPS and IoT area undergoes a revolutionary development. However, the methods and automated tools for CPS and IoT development are much less advanced. Moreover, many more well trained researchers and developers are needed in this rapidly developing area, as well as, more information exchange and collaboration among different projects and teams. This special issue aims to contribute to fulfilling the needs.
The MICPRO special issue on CPS and IoT is devoted to the journal papers related to presentations of theCPS&IoT'2019 Summer School, held in Budva, Montenegro, June 10-14, 2019, as well as, other papers based on recent projects in the CPS and IoT. It will address the applications, architectures, development methodology, embedded processing, as well as, safety, security and reliability of the modern CPS and IoT. It will especially focus on the modern cyber-physical applications that demand processing of data from/for multiple or complex sensors/actuators and require high-performance or low energy consumption, as well as, high safety, security and reliability.
