The vision of smart autonomous systems connected and collaborating through various interfaces and communication media to form the global Internet of Things (IoT) is not a science-fiction anymore, but an actual reality. The smart collaborating CPS and IoT have important applications in virtually all economic and social segments, and enormous economic and societal impact. Smart embedded computing plays a major role.
The Special Issue on Embedded Computing is devoted to the journal versions of selected papers from MECO’2019 - the 8th Mediterranean Conference on Embedded Computing and ECYPS’2019 – the 7th EUROMICRO/IEEE Workshop on Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems. It will address the applications, architectures, embedded processing, development methodology, as well as safety, security and reliability of the modern cyber-physical and embedded systems. It will especially focus on the modern applications that demand processing of data from/for multiple or complex sensors/actuators and require high-performance or low energy consumption, as well as, high safety, security and reliability.
