Call for Papers for Special Issue Circular economy and environment with emphasis on waste management resource valorization

Overview
The prestigious journal Science of the Total Environment (IF 4.610) (ISSN 0048-9697), an International Journal for Scientific Research into the Environment and its Relationship with Humankind, is currently running a special issue entitled "Circular economy and environment with emphasis on waste management & resource valorization". As Guest Editors for this issue, we would like to welcome contributions addressing circular economy. We kindly invite you to consider submitting your full paper to this special issue.
Authors are invited to submit papers related to the following topics:
Environmental policy is transitioning from a linear to a circular economy approach: This will impact a large number of different fields. Little has been done and achieved so far, but research and technology can contribute substantially in improving life through circular economy creating a better future for next generations. The Guest Editors of this Special Issue wish to include original research articles, as well as review articles, covering topics relevant to the circular economy. More specifically, the potential authors should address subjects with emphasis on:
· Circular economy in the field of waste management (e.g. food waste, plastics, biomass and bio-based products, construction & demolition waste, critical raw materials, etc.)
· Valorization of potential resources and materials for alternative uses
· Development & assessment of new resources for water, food and energy
· Promotion of sustainable development & sustainable use of resources
· Advances is technologies saving different resources
· Networks and Industrial Symbiosis
· Attempts to overcome the obstacles and barriers (such as technological, economic, legislative, institutional, etc.) of changes towards circular economy
· Building new markets for circular economy products and services
· Advances in the agricultural sector promoting sustainability and adaptation to the climate change
· Minimization of residues
· Motivation for ways to extend the life time of a products and limit the resources for producing them
· Research revealing the opportunities and challenges of the circular economy era
