Overview
In recent years, it has been realized that high-resolution molecular spectroscopic measurements coupled with related theory can be used to address and quantify the validity of our models of some of the most fundamental properties of matter. Some examples include searches for changes in the values of fundamental constants in time,[1] determining the Boltzmann constant from linewidth measurements,[2] and searches for evidence of parity breakdown in chiral molecules.[3] Recent studies of the spectra of polar diatomic molecules and molecular ions, such as YbF[4], ThO[5], and HfF+[6] that contain a heavy atom have revolutionized the search for Time-reversal and Parity-violating effects including the electron dipole moment, and various P-odd nuclear moments. In this special issue of the Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, we encourage submission of original research papers in this field. There will be a complementary mini-symposium on this topic to be held at the International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy, University of Illinois, in June17-21, 2019 and contributors to the symposium are especially encouraged to submit results to this special journal issue.
Deadline for submission of manuscripts: August 1, 2019
