This special issue aims to highlight the latest insights into the links between nutrition and immunology in mental health.
Immunoregulation plays an important role of molecular mechanisms for nutritional intervention in psychiatric disorders It is important to apply the findings of basic researches in clinical settings. For example, how omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids play a role in depression and dementia, or how perinatal mental health may be affected by dietary interventions, or how brain function may be affected by diets in respect to the actions of the immune system. Moreover, how immune reactions play a role in linking our usual diets and our mental health require further investigation.
We invite data-driven papers that contribute to a deeper understanding of the links between nutrition, immunology and mental health. Specific areas of interest include:
Early adversity (malnutrition during pregnancy, malnutrition during childhood, etc.)
Early stress (maternal inflammation, neonatal infection, etc.)
