Overview
This special issue is based on the first international conference on emerging pollutants organized by Shanghai university with the title "Environmental Health Risk and Prevention for Emerging Pollutants (EHRPEP)"(http://ece.shu.edu.cn/Default.aspx?tabid=35489&ctl=Detail&mid=65935&Id=232434&SkinSrc=[L]Skins/huanhua_160608/huanhua1_160608). Nevertheless, it will be open to other submissions. Thus, we can provide an open call for papers with the following description: With the accelerated industrial development and population increase, emerging pollutants reach the environment from various anthropogenic sources and are distributed throughout environmental matrices. These pollutants may be mobile and persistent in air, water, soil, sediments and ecological receptors even at low concentrations. In order to reduce the impact of these pollutants on human health, environmental managers urgently need to know the relevant information, such as the type, source, dose and causality between damage effect, so as to establish the monitoring, prevention, blocking and treatment system of the corresponding pollutants. However, robust data is still lacking. This virtual special issue will provide an opportunity for environmental experts to share their viewpoint and latest research on emerging pollutants.
Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Identification and source attribution of emerging pollutants;
- Transportation and transformation of emerging pollutants in environment;
- Human exposure and health risk assessment of emerging pollutants;
- Environmental toxicology and human health effects;
