Overview
We are organizing a special issue on the topic NMR Spectroscopy of Paramagnetic Solids and welcome related submissions.
Although the majority of solid-state NMR spectroscopy is carried out on diamagnetic solids, NMR of paramagnetic materials (often termed pNMR) offers exciting opportunities to exploit the additional information that can be provided through the interaction of the nuclear spins with unpaired electrons. However, the challenges of pNMR are considerable, with expanded shift ranges, fast relaxation, significant temperature dependences and large anisotropies to contend with experimentally. The interpretation of such spectra is, therefore, rarely intuititive, but the theororetical prediction of pNMR parameters also poses a number of difficulties. The field of paramagnetic solid-state NMR has expanded considerably in recent years, with the development of new experimental methodology, new theoretical approaches for computation and the application of these methodologies to complex structural problems in materials science, solid-state chemistry and biology. This special issue aims to capture the recent progress in the field, and to highlight the potential that NMR of paramagnetic solids offers for structural analysis of a wide range of materials.
Manuscripts are to be submitted via the online editorial system EVISE® and all manuscripts will be peer-reviewed.
