Overview
Synergies between the fields of structural micro and macroeconomics have grown remarkably over the past 20 years. This synergy arises because both structural econometricians and most modern macroeconomists view fully specified economic models as the starting point for empirical or quantitative analysis. In order to encourage this trend, the EER announces a special issue on “The Interface between Structural Micro and Macroeconomics” to be edited by Zvi Eckstein, Michael Keane, Richard Rogerson and Robert Sauer. We seek papers in both micro and macro that base rigorous empirical/quantitative analysis on clearly specified economic models. For example, ideal papers for this issue would include, but not be limited to, 1) macro papers that use micro data seriously in calibration, 2) micro papers that use structural models to address issues of interest in both micro and macro, 3) papers that provide rigorous estimates of key parameters useful in the calibration of macro models, 4) empirical work that takes aggregation issues seriously. We encourage submissions across a diverse range of applied micro fields (e.g., labor, trade, IO, health) and a diverse range of macro sub-fields. All submitted papers will subject to the same review standards as the EER.
