Overview
Special Issue on Emerging Strategies to Fill the Gaps in Ground-level Air Quality Data in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
This special issue will focus on recent research that would be relevant to filling gaps in ground-level air pollution data in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and could provide a basis for addressing challenges associated with assessing citizens’ exposure to air pollution, understanding the source structure of local pollution, enforcement of compliance with air quality standards, identification of interventions to reduce air pollution, and application of corrective and contingency actions to improve local air quality and public health outcomes. Papers will be invited to focus on the evaluation and application of new and innovative air pollution measurement approaches that would be relevant for addressing the identified challenges in LMICs, including case studies utilizing emerging air monitoring technologies, design of air monitoring networks, data assimilation and analysis, air monitoring quality assurance, and approaches for estimating health impacts of air pollution.
